All About Layering 3 - AECP

Started my journey through the Altenew Educator Certification Program with the All About Layering 3 Course.  This course was about how to use the stamp sets that have multiple layers for shading of images.  I chose to use the Build a Flower -Coneflower Layering Stamp and Die set found here: Build-A-Flower: Coneflower Layering Stamp & Die Set – Altenew.

I started by stamping the outline image in Permanent Black ink from Altenew.  For the flower image I used colors from the Summer Sunrise Fresh Dye Ink collection and for the leaves and stem I used 2 greens from Frosted Foliage ink collection.

I then used the matching die cuts to cut out the flower 5 times.  Then I glued all of the die cuts together to create one thick flower.  This is a new to me technique to add depth to an image.  This was much easier to add to the page then cutting out little bits of foam tape to pop it up off the card.

For the background of the card, I used a low tack tape to tape off the edges of the card base.  I then stamped the other floral image in the set all over the card in Pink Sand ink for a just barely there background.  Then I spritzed with a gold shimmer spray and Altenew Jet Black Ink Spray.  I don't really like how heavy the black spray turned out but it is a learning experience.  I added Gold Pinstripe Washi tape - also available from Altenew.  I die cut the sentiment from the Altenew Sweet Sentiments Die Cut set.  Finally, I used another new to me technique to add sequins to the card base - just take a small handful of your shiny bits and drop them onto the project and see how they land.  Looks so organic and natural - loved this technique as I usually tend to over think where I am placing sequins.

In the end I really like how this turned out.  I absolutely love Coneflowers and have several colors planted in my back garden.  I hope you like this as well.

  2. Angy I love your card. I am part of the new altenew educator program also. Finally finished two cards but have not mastered the photography part or adding to a blog. I am getting there though.

    1. You've got this Kathryn. For the photography just keep looking at how others set the stage for their cards - this has helped me a lot. Good luck with the program as well. I am enjoying it so much.
