Happy Anniversary card

I had a request for an anniversary card. Colors were pink, black and silver and a pop of purple.

I used my Spellbinders Glimmer machine and a roll of black foil for the sentiment and floral image (hot foil plate that came with the Glimmer machine).  The sentiment is Yana's Special Sentiments from Spellbinders.  I used Pink Shimmer cardstock from Papertrey Ink.  I tried to get a close up shot so you can see the Glimmer.

After the cardstock had cooled and I pulled the foil off I was really pleased with the image.  I used Copic markers to color in the flowers and leaves.  I used Wink of Stella clear glitter brush marker to add a little more shine to the center of the flowers.  I used some dies I had to cut the various frames and finally ended with silver watercolor paint splatters.  I think it turned out pretty.  What do you think?

Altenew Academy Stencil Class

I am participating in some online courses to improve my card making/ paper crafting skills through Altenew Academy.  Altenew has a lot of free classes but also many classes you can pay a small amount for to get amazing training.

This card here is my first homework assignment - to take a die I have in my collection and die cut the image and then use that die cut as a stencil.  I used the Altenew Edged Wildflower Die.

I had fun with this stencil and have a few more ideas I want to try.  With this stencil I did some ink blending.  I used Altenew Fresh Dye Inks - Tickled Pint, Cherry Sweet, Tangerine Dream, and Lemonade Stand for the flowers.  Peachy Keen for the area around the flowers.  Lettuce Celebrate was the green ink used for the leaves and stems and Berry Cool for the bottom edge of the card near the leaves.  I left the right side white except for the ink blended images.  Hard to see in the picture but I used a little glimmer spray on the right to add a bit of shine.

I cut the original piece down to slightly less than 5 1/4 x 4 and then mounted on some sparkly copper colored designer paper and finally mounted it all on a light orange card base.  I die cut the sentiment and used foam to mount it on the bottom edge of the card.  Finally, I just added a sprinkle of sequins.  This was a fun project and a good reminder to think outside the box and use my supplies in multiple ways.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Altenew August Color Challenge

My second entry for the Atlenew August Color Challenge.  I just found this company but I really do love their products, their blog, the classes they offer and more.  I am looking forward to the Cozy Comfort Retreat that is upcoming in October.

I went a lot heavier with my use of the watercolors really saturating the paper.  I am still trying to decide if I like being such heavy handed.  Again I used a page from my Altenew Watercolor Coloring Book.  I am thinking I should have ordered 2 of them when they were half off - what a great way to practice my watercoloring.
Hard to see but I used my Zig Wink Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to add some highlights to this card.  I also added some splatters of gold water color paint and the turquoise from my watercolor marker.  I still need to finish the card with a sentiment - I am debating between a black die cut or gold foiled sentiment.

I can't wait to see what Altenew has planned for the September Inspiration Challenge.

Altenew August 2023 Inspiration Challenge.

For my first post for my new blog I am participating in the Altenew August 2023 Inspiration Challenge.  You can find the original challenge here: https://blog.altenew.com/august-2023-inspiration-challenge/

I had a great time using a page from my new Altenew Watercolor Coloring Book - https://altenew.com/products/watercolor-coloring-book. This is one of my first times EVER using watercolor markers and it is such a joy to be able to create something so pretty!

I used watercolor markers and a few watercolor brushes (different sizes) and I added some gold splatters using kuretake gansai tambi watercolors - starry colors palette.

I used the image and colors for inspiration - I noted the green and a touch of light pink in the image and used those colors as well when water coloring my image.  I used a die to cut the frame out of gold shimmer cardstock and centered the frame over my image as well as mounting the water colored image on gold cardstock.  All of this was then mounted on a white card base.

Here I added a close up so you can see some of the shading I achieved with just a few water color markers.

I'd love to hear what you think about my first real water color project.

Thanks.
